Low boost?

What should stock boost pressure be for my 92?

It never seems to go above 12-13 lbs even when I stand on it.

The EGT's usually run 800 and go up to 1200 under load.

What would be a better option rebuilding my stock HC1 with a 60mm intake wheel and 16cm housing or getting a different turbo? Right now the rest of the truck is stock, wanted to start messing with the pump though.

I wouldnt bother with a 60mm and housing. Probably be easier and almost cheaper to find a he351cw if you can.

Is your truck an auto or standard?

If you fill out your signature it will help us understand what you have.

I've found that 1st gens were all over the map for stock boost pressure, and if it's only making 12 PSI you should be able to make a big difference with just pump adjustments, and get the pressure up to 19 or more before spending a bunch of money on parts. I think there's pretty good instructions around here in a sticky or wiki or something. Check your throttle linkage travel first to make sure you are achieving WOT at the pump.

I run the stock turbine, 60 mm compressor, and get about 25 lbs boost. There's considerable lag on spool up, but with an automatic it doesn't matter. On the rare occasion that I need an extreme launch, I power brake it for a couple of seconds, and the launch is ridiculous, and smokey. (mostly tire)
