I recently took my truck to Pismo Beach CA. and took it up a few hills. After doin that for two nights everything ran fine till i started heading home. In gear, it would not idle and in park it would idle around 500 rpms which i was told was too low. What could this be???

Sounds like for some reason your idle backed down. All you need is a 10mm wrench and a few minutes to adjust it back up. Not hard at all.

best thing ive done to date.... helped out my cold starts 10 fold...... starts like a dream now and idles warm in gear now around 875.......... cold idle starts off around 675 and climbs as she gets warmer

The idle adjustment stop is the head of the adjustment bolt. Sometimes after years of the throttle linkage hitting the bolt it gets a groove worn into it. If this happens it will lower the idle and make it tricky to adjust properly. To check just open the linkage and feel the bolt with your finger.
