Truck died now only very rough idle
Hi All,
My son borrowed the truck and it died while driving at highway speed. It will crank and restart after a bit but will only barely idle very rough like it is running on 2 or 3 cylinders. lift pump pressure is normal 11 - 12 psi pump cycles normaly. I cracked open a couple of injectors they are spraying fuel but not as much as I remember when I have to bleed the system after a filter change. I also opened the line from the filter to the VP and fuel volume there looks fine. I plugged in a code reader and have the following codes P0252, P0251, and P1688. Any help will be much appriciated.

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!

Hate to say it but Your VP has failed. Sorry buddy.
Lots of guys suggest these folks for a replacement. This is probably where I will go to get mine. http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/vp44diagnostichelp.html

Thanks for all the info. I knew that the VP was toast just wanted to confirm that I wasn't missing something that would be less costly? I will most likely go to Blue Chip for the replacment. What do you suggest for a lift pump? The truck is stock and the lift pump that is in now was the direct replacment from Blue Chip it's a couple of years old and seems to be as good as new but I will not take a chance and not replace it with the new VP.
