i am moving to florida in 3 weeks or so, what do you recommend i check/work on before i leave, i got to change the oil, i want to change the tranny fluid and filter this week then change it again 4 or 5 days later to get it all flushed out and cleaned, the fuel filter was changed a couple months ago before i got the truck, im having a decent set of used tires put on the truck and im buying the right lugnuts for the welds before i leave, i will be towing a 94 4x4 ranger on a car dolley right down 75 and both trucks will be full of my stuff. anything you guys suggest???? it kinda needs a air filter, im on a TIGHT budget, you suggest a stock one or step up to the BHAF, who makes it, where can i get it, whats the part number, and what does it cost???
i dont run a air box, it runs so much better at night when cold air is sucking around my headlight and into the open filter than it does during the day, you drive somewhere on the freeway during the day, then back home o na cold clear night, wow, 10 to 15 mph difference.
Sounds like you're on the right track, it's amazing what an oil change can do for power and milage. The only other thing that I would sugest would be to grab a grease gun and giver!
Grease U-joints and check the rear-end.
Also, and very important, REMOVE and inspect/blow-out the rear axle vent, AND poke a wire, or some-such, through the vent fitting on the housing where the axle-vent attaches.
I have seen many axle-vent hoses be clear as a whistle, and the fitting be plugged tight.
On a trip that far, especially loaded, the rear will heat up and make pressure.
With a stopped-up vent, it will blow fluid out the pinion seal, all over the trailer, and on the windshield of the cop that is following.
