1st time travel trailer towing

Hi Guys,
I have just purchased a 29' 10 year old Prowler trailer. I've only towed a 2 horse trailer(with 1 horse in it) & my Dad's 21' Bayliner before. I plan to take the trailer to my property in the mountains @ 200 miles away. We plan on leaving the trailer on the property. My truck has an aftermarket class 3 trailer hitch & a tekonsha voyager xp controller that I installed. 1st question is-will the truck tow this trailer w/out any additional equipment, stabilizer bars, etc.? Will the stock trans cooler work for the tow? I have several steep hills to go up. I figure the temp. will be in the 50s if that makes any difference. Any other help that you can offer?
Thanks

Re:1st time travel trailer towing

That is a good size trailer and it is not light. 200 miles is a long way if you encounter sway problems. As a minimum I would recommend equlizer hitch and bars and sway control. I believe in safety first. FWIW

Casey

Re:1st time travel trailer towing

say there Xplorer is that sellersville pa? Yes that truck of yours will tow that camper just fine but I would also recomend the equilizer bars to prevent swaying an such. If you are here in Pa were not that far apart an I would be willing to loan you the whole settup for towing that I have no sense in buying one if your only going to tow it 1 time, I pull a 5th wheel but have everything for towing the tag alongs caue I tow a lot of them for people over the summer.
Just let me know Bob

What Casey said.

And I would take Deezilla up on his offer. To buy the equipment would be VERY expensive, especially for a one time move.

My 2 cents (or less)

Stan

P. S.

FWIW -- I notice you have an auto. I would keep it out of OD and stay under 55 mph. JMHO

Stan
