Transmission slips on 2nd gear
My Transmission slips on second gear. Before and after that gear its fine. Its an auto tranny. Somebody told me they had that problem and had the tranny replaced but problem was still there. Ended up being the throttle position sensor. That makes no sense to me. Anybody know for sure? My truck just rolled to 87000 miles and things are starting to break.
Thanks

It's easy for the front band, the rear requires the pan to be dropped because it's inside there.
Adjusting the band is easy, takes about 10 minutes.
Someone will no doubt post the link to the thread on adjusting them... don't pay for such an easy thing to do.
If not, search "band adjustment" and you should get hundreds of threads to read on it.

Thank you all for your help. Unfortunatley I took it to a shop to have it done before I saw this. Good thing is that was it. Guess $165 is better than $2450 which is what another shop quoted me. They said they don't adjust just replace.

I have a 2005 3500 long box diesel auto with 180 000 kms and it just started slipping on the upshift to 2nd Is the adjustment to the bands a patch or a proper repair that will last??

Thats exactly what mine was doing. According to the transmission shop thats a proper repair. They said the factory doesn't tighten them enough and they loosen or they end up stretching a bit.
