trans gauge
trans gauge
i have had my rannt temp gauge hooked up for well over a month now, and it hasn't moved off the needle pin.
so i was going to be towing 10,000 lbs for the long week end, so i decided to check this out.
the 12 volt wire that feeds the little box was off.so i put it back and tightened things up and decided to check for voltage. i have 12 volts going into the little box that runs the gauge(isspro)then i checked with the key on to see if i had volts going to the gauge, but the test light didn't light up very bright, then i checked the back side of the gauge on the 2 wires that had very little voltage, and no light at all.
does any one know if there should be voltage there regardless of trans temp.
i did all the testing with he truck cold.
i will assume that the gauge should have power all the time and the sending unit will do it's thing when things get hot.
i know that the ground is good because i have lots of power going into the little box that runs the gauge, but coming out of there is not so good, and none at the back of the gauge.
the other gauges work fine and all the light work fine in all 3 gauges.
i also have a larger trans pan witht he sending unit hole.
pulling 10,000lbs for over 6 hours with some stop and go traffic, AC on and pulling around 70 mph, with the last hours of slow speed hills should have moved the gauge some.
any help here would be great

if any one here on this board is going to be installing their new gauges, could you check for voltage on the trans temp gauge with a test light at each end, from the box and the back of gauge, as i would love to find put if this gauge is no good and needs to be returned.
