Question What size is my truck's rear end?

I want to change out the oil next weekend. How can I find the rear end size? How much oil do I need, and does it have a reuseable gasket?

The gasket is reusable. It is an AA 11.5" with 4.10 or 3.73 gears. Open diff holds 142 oz, limited slip holds 135 oz according to my manual. I put Royal Purple 75w90 in , but others that tow heavy have been using heavier oils.

Good question i need to know for sure myself. I know it is a AAM 11.5, but the guy today at the parts store coulnt find capacity, lube weight, the gasket nothing. I did read that limited slip additive is no longer needed due to the posi is now mechical rather than clutch type. May be some one will share what and how much they put in thiers, at 62,000 this will be my first change, not prode of that. Ive allready done the nv5600 3 times. Thanks

Buy 4 quarts, it should be slightly less than that. Don't need a gasket. The OEM is reusable. Use 70-90 unless you tow heavy then use 70-150. The brand is your choice, waaaayyy too many opinions to open that barrel.

Great and thanks, o'reilys has a 1 gallon jug for under 15.00. Its 85W140 i believe its called LubriMatic GL5HP Limited Slip Gear Oil. The price is right and the correct amount in one container it sounds like! Shouldnt be much diff. in preformance in this and a syn. Right- lots of money diff. thats for sure. Im going to try it. Thanks again for the specs. guys

According to the 04 service manual the "11.5aam takes 7.65 pints of Mopar Synthetic Gear Lubricatn 75w-90. Note: Trac-Lok diff's require limited slip additive in the lubricant. Trac-rite diff's DO NOT require Limited Slip additive." "With Trac-Lok add 118ml (4oz) of limited slip additive."

Stock600 that price sure does NOT sound like a synthetic gear oil.

Your right it doesnt to me either, ill take it back i guess the wieght is prob. the biggest reason, 85w140 vers 75w90?? Does it make much diff. I never tow over just the weight of my 18' car hauler and 2670# race car. [4500 max] ......................never mind ill get the syn. 75w90, i never do halfa** no sense in starting now.
