Rear End Size - 2500/3500

Is there a difference on front or rear ends between the 2500 and 3500 Rams?

Front ends are all 9.25". Rear ends with the Cummins engine are all 11.50", regardless of auto or manual trans, 2500 or 3500. With the Hemi gas engine, the 2500 uses a 10.50" while the 3500 uses an 11.50".

That explains it, thanks!

When you say 11.5" you mean the diameter of the ring gear, right?

I stand corrected. Thanks for the info Vaughn and SBishop. I hate to give out wrong information but it does happen once in a while.

NJTackle, yes those numbers would be the size of the ring gear.

BDude555, I'm not real positive but I think they used a Dana 80 axle which I think would mean an 11.50" ring gear, same as the AAM. You might check the 2nd gen forum or try a search as I'm sure someone else has wondered the same thing.

My 2500 SO 5 spd has the 11.5in rear end. Like some others have said, in general the 2500 SO autos seem to have the 10.5in and the manuals have the 11.5in.
