sirius radio
My sirius radio came today in the mail.I have no idea where or how to mount it.I don't have time to mess with it till this weekend. If anyone has a plug and play sirius radio,it would be great if you could help me out with some directions and some pictures would really help me out. Thanks
I'll be watching this.. as my sirius is here.. and I got the bigger unit that plugs into a boombox for work reasons.. Im still trying to figure out where to mount it.. So far, it looks like one of my only options is on top of the dash..

I just installed the Sportster setup on my truck. Install is very easy. I installed the antenna on the center rear portion of the roof. I then ran the wire though the 3rd brake light and under the healiner panels. The car kit comes with a 12v accessory plug, but I cut it off and hard wired it to a 12v source. Works great except for a little static.
Keep an eye on the wire going through the third break light. I had to use some clear RTV to seal it up because I was getting water leakage from that spot when I installed my antenna. The clear RTV is hardly noticable and has held a good seal for almost 8 months now. Just food for thought.

Is there any way to mount the receiver in the cubby hole? I think I will be getting one soon and would like to find a good loc. You can order a factory Sirius set up from the dealer but it is $300.00 where as the sportster is $119.00. Does the antenna have to go on the outside of the truck or can it be mounted under the headliner. The antenna for the RB1 is under my dash and works fine, no interference....
Well, I was all set to install my sirius radio, when I realized that the guy I bought from sent me the wrong car docking kit.. The one I ordered was supposed to be the one with the FM modulator built into it, and this one did not have the modulator built in.. So now I have to get that mess straightened out before I can install the sirius.. but it does seem to be a fairly straightforward procedure.. Couple hours worth of work maybe...
I decided Im probably going to mount the docking station on top of the dash, toward the passenger side where the dash gets flat.. not really a good spot as far as reach is concerned, but its where it looked best, and Ive got a remote if I need to use it.

I am using the Roady2 the same unit for in the house and in whatever car I am taking at the time .... I just set it on the dash with a small towel and when I go in the house I got a DC converther from Radio Shack plug the Dc into it and I have it in the house ... the inside transponder works pretty good I just set next to a radio inside don't even have to turn it on? and it works!! XM only way to go ....
I put sirius in mine. I put the antenna in the front center of the roof, ran the wire down the groove in the glass under the rubber weather stripping on the "A" pillar, found an easy access into the cab then down under the dash.
I have the sportster unit, it has built in fm in the sportster not the docking cradle. however I have an aftermarket stereo and am hard wired to aux input on the stereo and also hard wired the power connection.
I put the mounting bracket to the right of the center, just under the vent, there was a blank spot there and easy to run antenna, power, and aux wires into the dash via the trash bag holder or whatever that thing is.
wherever you mount the tuner, you will want it within reach so you can change channels and stuff.
my entire install took 30-60 mins. most of that was planning where to run wires and stuff.
I hope this helps, I love my sirius radio!!

i have a sirius with the big sucktion cup mount that is suppose to stick on the windsheild,,,just so happens that it fit perfectly in the cubby hole,,with the sucktion lever up,,it stays in there real good,, drilled a hole in the back of the cubby hole under the rubber mat for the wires and am able to use the lower power outlet so the wire is not noticable,, the wires are ran through the inside of the cup holder and i just ran the antenna wire out the driver side window and stuck the magnetic antenna on the roof next to the clearance light,,my truck is black and so is the antenna,so it"s not noticable either,,,the sirius face plate is tilted towards me and up so i have a direct line of vision,,,,i think it looks kinda big rig,,,

My only complaint is that the display is difficult to see during the day. I hooked mine directly to the head unit with an auxilary input adapter. The sound is excellent.
