Get your truck out of there... NOW
then, call Lary at the DTR store, and get yourself an airdog lift pump
then, call a vendor of your choice, and get the new VP44 pump that your codes told me you need
Then install your own lift pump, and if you run into grief with the VP44 install, IM me, or look up Diesel Dan's how to on here.
Don't give them a bunch of coin, when it won't solve your entire problem.
The 24v secnod gen trucks had electric lift pumps from the factory, and they were NOT located in the tank. Their take on this raises red flags all over the place.
Good luck

I had a very similar problem. Aparently there is some sort of kit that is supposed to eliminate the problem of faulty factory lift pumps. Anyways the kit gets rid of the lift pump on the block and relocates it in the fuel tank. My truck had the same thing when i bought it. It sucks. I ended up having to put the stock lift pump back on the block where it belongs becasue I wasnt getting near enough pressure going to the IP. I dont really know if thats the same thing you are experiancing but maybe thats why they dropped the fuel tank.

I am talkin about the lift pump, but since it died do you think i need a new vp44 or do you think it survived, the truck died and started back up with a rough idle about 400 rpm and then died started and did the same thing a few other times and now wont start at all, codes that came up p1688 and p0252, one of my friends had these same codes come up and it didn't turn out to be an injection or lift pump, his chip blew, i took my chip and programmer off and still no start

This may help with your troubleshooting. If the dealer dropped your tank to troubleshoot your lift pump, you need to get your truck out of there. They don't seem to know much about the Rams with CTD engines. If they're charging $1,100 for a lift pump R&R, you could have spent $600 on a FASS system, and had someone local install it. The 1688 code is not hopeful. Sorry you're having these troubles.
PS, I'd fight them pretty vigorously about any labor charges incurred dropping the tank, since the DODGE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL is pretty clear regarding the location of the pump.
