plate install boost adjustments?

Going to grind the stocker to a #10 myself and spend the money saved on a 3k gsk. What else has to be done when installing a plate? Any one have the tst video they'd like to sell?

There must be something that has to be done in the way of boost and wastegating? Starwheel? AFC?

I plan to keep the #10 in stock position, what else has to be adjusted?

Gauges first. EGT and boost minimum.

You will also need a boost elbow to replace the stock one on the turbo. TST and Piers (I think) have these for around $25 - 30.

The plate alone will gain you some but with the 3K GSK you will enjoy more rpm range and then will need to heed the gauges.

You can then tune the AFC and star wheel to control off/on boost fueling and smoke.

Oh, and did I mention gauges first?

afc star adjust

guages, yep, that's understood.

How do I know how much to adjust the AFC and star wheel.

While were at it, what does afc stand for?

I see the boost elbow at tst but what does it actally do and how is it adjusted?

the afc and starwheel are just personal preference adjustments, U won't notice a huge difference by adjusting them, but u can fine tune the pre-boost fuel alittle bit with them.

The AFC and star wheel both control low boost fueling. ie How much black smoke off idle and how fast the turbo lites off. The AFC is the course adjustment and the star wheel is the fine adjustent. Their adjustment is personal preference between smoke and liting the turbo. Both of them provide more fuel the closer to the front of the motor they are.
The boost elbow controls the amount of fuel that the AFC sees. The adjustable version has a hole in it that allow it bleed preasure off to the atmosphere. The rate of preasure loss is controlled by a set screw that opens up the orfice in the elbow.

the only screw I haven't adjusted yet is the smoke screw on the back of the AFC.

bore sight the afc

suggestions on setting the afc to get close after installing a #10? From the reading I see it's kinda a trial and error thing but I'd like to get close. Or should I just leave in stock position and go from there.

leave it stock and see how u like the 10 plate in the stock position. The main adjustment will be moving the 10 plate forward to where u want it. The boost elbow I can't speak on because I have some banks stuff that deals with the wastgate, but installing the plate won't mean u NEED to adjust anything else, it's just fun to play around to fit ur exact driving habits. The farther u move the plate forward, u should check the gov arm position on the plate to make sure it's hitting about at the bottom tip of the plate.

Might as well save some more money and do the free 3kgsk mod too. Then you can make a free boost elbow like I did by drilling and tapping the stock elbow, and putting an allen screw in it. All free... I bought my #10 plate though. Wanted to keep the stock fuel plate just in case.
