Leaking Injector Pump

I have an 89 and I noticed this past Saturday that the injector pump is really leaking. At an idle a steady stream of fuel pours out about the size of a pencil. Any pointers? If I have to have another pump where is the most affordable place to get one? I have seen some on rebuilt pumpus on ebay for around $500.00. Are they reliable? Anyone been through this scenerio before and could give me some pointers I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I am in Livingston, Tennessee. I went to a mechanic yesterday and he said that a new pump would with labor would cost $1600! That is really going to be a hit on the old wallet. Thanks for any info!

Sound like you when to a dodge dealer! find your self a diesel shop that works on cummins and thay can rebuild it for a lot less then that. Dodge new pump that will take 3 week to get!
atleast thats what i was told when we sent the pump to a reputable diesel shop in stead!

The leak is on the back of the pump where it bolts onto a block. I was told that this is where the lines enter the pump. I talked to my mechanic again yesterday and he said the most it would cost would be $500.00 now. He looked at it and decided a rebuild would suffice. I think when he told me $1600 he was giving me a worst case scenerio. Is $500 too much for a rebuild? The mechanic is not actually rebuilding the pump but is sending it to a guy that is supposed to be really reputable with the 1st generation Dodge Cummins injector pumps. Thanks again for all the input.

Try to find out who he is sending it to.. and then send to him yourself and I bet it will be cheaper
