I killed my first deer Tuesday morning!
shot a doe at about 70 yards. It was my first, it would have been nice to have a big trophy, but the does are better eating. The best thing about it is that it was with my own handloads. One shot is all it took with my .270, w/ 130 grain nosler ballistic tip and 57 grains of hodgen 4831 sc. i will have some pics soon. Hopfully i can get a Buck before the season is up.

congrats
I've been out a couple of times this year. Seen nothing but small spikes and does. Me and my son went out last saturday. He is 6 and it was his first time going hunting with me. We got up in the tree stand and what did we see? I lil fawn albino staring at me! hahaha I didn't shoot it but it sure would be a great mount once he/she gets bigger.

my uncle is a state and national competition qualified rifle shooter, and I wanted to buy a rifle for my dad that my uncle could hand load, and will shoot way the heck out there if needed. SO mom and I bought him for christmas two years ago that same rifle..
Ruger M 77 .308 Winchester, laminate wood stock and stainless steel barrel, topped with a Leupold 4x12 x 50 with the adjustable things (i forget what u call em), So far the farthest deer shot with that rifle was just under 400 yards, a slightly hotter load than usual, light grain bullets and a neck shot. But it by far is the most accurate gun that i have ever shot...
No kiddin it will put three bullets in a hole that can be covered by a dime at 100 yards...
Light on recoil too!
