where are HT3Bs commonly found?

Hey Lance check this sight out I thoink it will help you out with the Ht3b. If you are looking to do twins there are other turbos that will work but I'm not sure which ones though.....http://www.dieselevante.it/index.aspk

Be carefully on which BTH-3b you select, they are not all the same. Any truck shop or turboshop will have them. I found 3b's and s400 for around $600, not wastegated. Typically garrett k-31 have a wastegate and flows the similar amount of air as the 3b and S400. The turbine housing is tighter on the k-31 than the other so it will spool faster but will have higher egt's. All of these turbo make nice primary turbos for twins.

I have been looking for any one of these little Gems in good used condition for some time now and I thought with the number of Big Rigs out there in Bone yards there be something but so far nothing. I have seen a few on Sleez Bay but not exactly what I am looking for. Bottom line is you either have to get real lucky to find a good used one or Buck up and buy new..........

I wouldn't mess around with a burnt-out/carboned up old turbo when you can buy a new one for around $600. This way you can also get the exact turbo you want not any turbo.

I saw a 3B go in ebay for $150. It looked abused but cheap. The little parts will drive up you cost. I'm building a set of twins. My costs right now are around the $3K mark, excluding tools. The 3B is the easy way to build twins. The air tubes are easy and simple. The S400 you have to get a clamp style for the discharge nozzle. I would just get a machine shop to build something you could weld. Also the S400 you will need to use a few more bends as the compressor discharge is in a different direction than the 3B. How much power you want to build for? There are several different styles of S400 available. I have my eye on a low pressure ratio, high flow S400 (airwerks 171702 series if I remember correctly). The max air flow is around the 90 to 100 lbs/min area, so there lots of air available. You only need about pressure 2.5 ratio to get to 25-30 psi of boost depending on your elevation. You secondary will take the boost up to 60+ psi.
