High Egts All Of A Sudden

All of a sudden I noticed my EGTS out the roof, not pulling normal driving 60-70 mph range 1200-1400 egts back off throttle to get to 1000-1200. Even at a red light not getting below 1000 !!!! Engine temp gauge good, visual good
any ideas ?????????????????????????????????????[

Pull the thermocouple out, & inspect it for damage. Replace it with a known good one, & see what it does then. If still high check the same on the guage itself.

If the truck is not pulling like it used to, it could be as simple as a plugged air filter, fuel filter. Or could it be going thru a regen? You don't have your engine listed......

Since his sig says "Turbo back with Magnaflow straight thru muffler w/6" tip" I'm guessing that he has a 5.9L Cummins. At least that's what I would suspect. I'm guessing that it is your probe if the truck feels fine.

Good point. I missed that I guess. It's easier to just list the engine, huh?

Yeah......defiantely check for codes, and double check filters. Even with clogged filters, the egt should go down at a stoplight. Sounds like if everything else checks o.k., probably a bad probe or guage. What does the egt guage read when the ignition is turned on, but the truck isn not running? That would be a big clue to a guage problem.

If your trucks feels like it's down on power check your intercooler boots. They could be torn or just come loose. Check your boost pressure.
