Heard some info today on BIO

Was at our weekly gearhead lunch and one of the guys there that's in the towing business stated that the Bio diesel fuels are bad for the Ford trucks in that it eats the lining in their tanks. Anyone hear of this?

I am not sure about that, sounds kind of rediculous , BUT , with that said , i know BIO did some funky things to my fuel level gauge, the first tank was ok , but by the third tank , the needle on the gauge looked like a tree branch in the wind.. , it was all over the place , right after fill up it would peg itself on E , and the fuel light would come on. i am on my fourth tank of regular diesel again now , and everything is perfect.

I convinced my father to try a few tanks of BIO , from the same place i was getting it, and on the second tank , he called me from the intersection up the road from the fuel station , wanting to know why his gauge was on E and the fuel light was on. He switched back to regular diesel also , and again , everything is back to normal.

It must be somethin with the bio. I have an '02 and my fuel gauge does the same thing... goes nuts!! It does it even on a B50 blend but as soon as I run the tank about empty and fill up with regular #2 its fine!!

Highly doubt this could be true as it would probably make the evening news.
For one thing there is no lining in the Ford tanks, they are the same as ours- one piece plastic.
Maybe those guys think the deposits in their Ford tanks from #2 diesel are a liner.
