Has anyone figured a repair for the faulty tachometer issue?

My 2006 has had a funky tach for a while now, it pretty much has settled into reading 200 at idle and probably low throughout the band.

Is there a do it yourself repair or do we have to send the tach in?

I forget who posted a link but there is a company in Canada IIRC that you can send it to and they will fix it. About $200 and they have a real fast turn around.
Mine jumps a little at idle so I know it is just a matter of time now.

A little searching here should bring up the link.

there is also a good writeup in exactly what you have to do to get the tach out.

If you do end up sending it in for repair, tell them you want the old parts i sure would be intrested in what it takes to fix one, Im guessing its a simple thing.

Hey LostLake my tach started doing the same thing. I took it to the dealer and the cost of the labor plus parts (replaced whole instrument cluster) was $350. The truck had to sit there for a few days though because when they order a new instrument cluster, the odometer reading gets programmed into the new cluster-so you cannot drive the truck in the meantime.
