Had it out with a jeep SRT-8

Last night playing around, i ecountered somebody trying too keep up. Coming too a red light (the last one before the highway), this jeep pulls slightly ahead of me and i see the dual pipes out the center of the bumper, and new what i was playing with.

Light throws a green and we take off.....he immediatly jumps 2 lengths in front of me, then i ended up catching and passing him by about 70-80 mph and @ 125ish mph I had about a truck or two on him.....but with my inferior gearing (125mph is 3500 rpm in 6th), i let off and held 125.....this jeep just blew by me.....not sure what the top speed is in those things.....but 125 is definatly not even close.

Either way we stopped and had a chat and he tells me that the jeep is stock and he has had it too 140mph, like i said not sure if he could, but 125 and he blew my doors off after that. I had him through the 1/4, but the standing mile I got my bum handed too me.

Guess it is time for some 3.42's and to get the 4000 rpm programs...LOL

RyeThomas' wife has one. He makes 750hp right now and still can't say for sure if his truck is quicker or not. That says a lot for that Jeep SRT8.....

I heard they will do 180. Don't know if I believe it or not, but that is what a serv. manager @ a DC dealership told me.

Wasn't even an exciting race was it?
I rode in a budddy's recently and was not impressed at all. And I thought those twin turbos were the best thing ever.

dream on the jeep srt 8 will not do any thing close to 180 mph the manager needs to put the peace pipe down , its speed limited and the areo dynamics wont allow that high of a speed not to say on a dry lake bed its not possible but not on a public highway with some johnny joe lunchbucket driving down the road ! now thats funny right there I dont care who ya are! kind of like saying the new harley v-rod is faster then a suzuki GSXR 1000 LOL never happen off the showroom floor !!

There's guys who have hit the factory speed limiter at 170-173mph, and ones who claim higher after a tune that disables the limiter. Check out the GC SRT-8 forums.

That's a pretty solid kill ramtd02, they are a low 13 second truck right out of the box. I've got a friend who took his brand new 07 to Castrol Raceway and ran a 13.6 with basically no miles on it (corrected to a low 13 at sea level).

You can search around on youtube and see how the strokers, GSM blown and ASM blown ones run. There's even a few blown 426ci strokers out there. They launch like they're sitting on the steam catapult of a carrier

Ran the twin turbo Ford the other day. He blew his motor up when he turned his power module on. Kind of funny,

I ran one of those SRT-8's in my Trans Am, those are crazy for how big they are.

180 mph seems farfetched to me. Like already mentioned, the wind drag of that rolling lunch box requires quite a bit of power to hit 180 mph. But I guess I could be wrong. Iknow its hard to believe, but I have been wrong before.
