fuel pin Q
fuel pin Q
is there a way to get the pin inside the pump that rides on the fuel pin to go in when trying to remove the fuel pin?? because i think im gougeing my denny t when i am pulling it out of my pump. i dont need to use allot of force but just like wiggle it and it pops out but sometimes it just slides out?? any help/suggustions would be awsome!! THANKS, ryan
I usually just turn the pin 180* then try to pull up. Next time you pull it out try putting some assy. lube or thin grease on the contact face for smoother sliding. It is very hard to gouge the DennyT as it is made of hardened steel, you will always see "witness marks" but I don't believe any major gouging will occur. If the little inner pin is out all you have to do is get a screw driver in there and push it back. As soon as you move the throttle, the pin will immediately pop all the way out.
I have done this manny times before to get the pin back in but is there any way to get the little pin to go back in when the pump is together to remove the fuel pin??
Not to my knowledge, if the throttle is at idle there should be no force holding it out. Do you still have that little washer on the fuel pin to limit travel? If not you may be binding it so when you try to pull it out it sticks.... dunno I would try the twisting method then add some lube to the slide face. Whatever is binding in there should get lubed up and cease. could you get a pic of the profile of the pin so I can see how bad it's gouging?
Next time you get the pin out, cycle the pin in and out to see if there is any binding or catching. If it is gouging really bad, don't put the pin in at a 90* to the inner pin. offset it about 2 or 3* so the inner pin rides in a different track on the fuel pin and see if the gouging persists. I'm really bad at explaining it so feel free to ask questions.

I just tap on the top of the diaphram a few times and usually it pops up from the spring pressure, I'd put some engine grease on it when you put it back in though, thats what i put on mine.

Bosch suggests using STP oil treatment to lube all pump parts during assembly. That stuff is really slick. My Denny T pin has only about 1000 miles on it and it has a slight groove in it. It's not enough to catch your thumbnail in but enough it worries me a little.
It shouldn't get any deeper, there is metal to metal contact so you will see a bit of wear but you don't need to worry about a DennyT. Plus if it does wear a groove the rack will be sitting deeper which means MORE FUEL!!!
