Fuel gauge question

I had the sending unit replaced in my tank Friday. The guage was malfuctioning. Before it would show empy after driving about 100 miles. After the new sending unit was installed it showed I had just under half a tank which jives with what the mechanic observed in the tank when he had it open. So I went to fill it up and the needle pegged out above full. The question I have is when I turn the truck off the needle does'nt budge, and when I drive it does'nt budge. However, I have only drove about 20 miles. When or should I see some movement? Is this normal for these trucks?
Thanks.

That is a big tank. You should see under half in 240 miles. BUT that last quarter tank on my truck is very big. I drove 185 miles on the first half and 185 miles on the next quarter of a tank.

hello, can you tell me how much you paid to have a sending unit put in? I have the same problem you have with my '99 dodge. Just want to get an idea so I don't get ripped off.

I did it my self.......probably took a Hour or two.........before you do it run the tank down as fare as you safely can!!!!

the tank conectors can be a real pain to get to release.....evan more so if you like to play in the dirt and mud!!!!!!!!!!
