EZ users check this....

When you got your EZ the paperwork says that it is factory set to the most aggressive setting. How many never check this. Several posted here that they were unsatisfied with the EZ, check the jumper setting. Mine was set by the factory to the lightest setting. I checked it before installing it and changed it, but I have seen some disagreement on which jumper setting is the highest and this is probably why. As you look into the end of the unit with the circuit board to the bottom and the sticker to the top, the jumper should be on the right for the highest setting. I tried it the other side to be sure.

Re:EZ users check this....

I have only had mine in for a month and have never checked which setting it is on, but it is amazing what that little box will do for you when towing. I have said it in other posts, but I consider this the best bang for the buck of any mod that I have done on this or any other vehicle. Before the box, you could definitely feel my 5th wheel camper when you were pulling it. Now, you hardly even know that it is back there. If my box is on the lightest setting, I would be scared to see what the truck would do on the highest , but I will check anyway. Thanks for the heads up.

Re:EZ users check this....

Mine doesn't even have the jumper, just the three prongs. ??? Would this just default to the highest setting? Anyone know? Or could someone test to see?

Thanks
Joe

Re:EZ users check this....

The EZ has three settings for fueling under different levels of boost for smoke control. There is no settings for more power. The pin settings are:

1) At 0 psi boost there is 33% fueling. At 20 psi boost there is 100% fueling. (huge injectors)

2) At 0 psi boost there is 50% fueling. At 15 psi boost there is 100% fueling. (larger injectors)

3) At 0 psi boost there is 67% fueling. At 10 psi boost there is 100% fueling. (stock setting)

The reason different settings are offered is when you add larger injectors the added fuel at low boost will cause excessive smoking. So you can move the pin setting to tell the EZ to fuel at a higher level of boost to give the motor a chance to burn of the added fuel of the injectors and put out less smoke. Smoke control is all the settings are for. Buy moving the pin you could actually lower your bottom end power. This doesnt exclude the fact that the EZ could come from the factory with the wrong pin setting or no pin at all (if it would work like that). So nothing wrong with checking. ;D

Katoom, so if I interpret your statement correctly, with my installed DD2s and an EZ installed, I should be on pin 2? But only if I want to minimize smoke production? I'm currently on pin 3. Not challenging your statement, just want to get the best utilization for money invested in Baby. And the qualifier statement is YES, I do want to make some smoke.

Re:EZ users check this....

The EZ is the ONLY bombing I have done which means I have stock injectors. I get the SAME amount of smoke on all three settings. Katoom, can you tell me why. ??? I'd like to have little or no smoke when pulling the TT. As it is I have to do a lot of cleaning every time I take it out - smoke all down the side. :'( Also all that smoke down the side of the TT looks bad when I pull into a campground. > I've actually been thinking of unhooking it when pulling. :-[

Any suggestions from anybody, not just Katoom, would be welcome.

Stan

NWDave, if you like the smoke then go for it! ;D The info I just relayed came straight from Edge Products themselves. All I can say is try a different setting, you may like the results. ???

Bearfoot2, I also have stock injectors but I dont have a smoke problem. Sounds funny that you cant get any change out of moving the pin. Maybe something is wrong with the EZ? Have you called Edge Products? Maybe you have a low boost problem? What boost readings do you see while towing?
