Engine warm, hard start
My friend has a 2006 5.9 that has recently started having problems when the engine is warm or hot.
He turns off the truck and it does not want to start. Runs the battery down. Put on the jumper cables and it fires right off.
Changed to new batteries, still has the same problem.
When it will not start, if on a hill, just lets it go and dumps clutch and it runs.
The only code is referring to low voltage.
It starts right off when the engine is cold.

So he ends up cranking it so much that it drains the batteries? When mine is hot and I don't let the grid heater cut off first before trying to start then it cranks for a few seconds longer before it lights off.

He tries to start it, but after a few attempts, the system just does not have the juice to start.
I know a guy that had the same problem with a ford 7.3. He used to pour water down the valley to cool it and it would start.
It just baffles me. I think there might be a sensor or something that is weak on the starter circuit.

**** thats weird. Does it still die down and not have enough to start it with the new batteries? If so then something has to be drawing off some of his charge some where. I have watched my step father sit there and crank on his old 7.3 for almost an half hour in the winter before it would fire off. Something is up. Wish I could be more help but I don't have it in front of me to diagnose.

It happened at the dealer. They had the scanner on it and it was not showing anything but low battery voltage.
