afc lever grinding. will this affect the manual fuel shut off?sence my plunger went to crap. i have to some times shut it off manualy. sometimes it will shut down by turn of key.. but any way i am fixing that tomarrow with a pull cord. and if i do grind off the lever will i have to go with a longer pin . or will the stock pin work.
(will i get more fuel

taking your afc lever out is the same thing as grinding your afc lever, except grinding is permanent, I would just take the afc lever out so you can put it back if you ever need to. I have mine out and like it.

Removing your AFC lever won't affect your shutoff solenoid or your emergency shut off, nor will it fix a broken shutoff solenoid. What you do when you've removed the AFC is rendered your fuel pin, starwheel, and smoke screw inoperable. Assuming you already have your fuel screw set to max it won't allow you to run any more fuel than you currently do. What it DOES do is give you control over the fuel curve. You will now have full fuel all the time, controlled by throttle position. I don't run my AFC currently and I can drive clean very easily though I can also lay mushroom clouds of smoke when I feel like it. I think if you tow a lot you won't want to do this but if your truck is just a DD you should be fine. The nice thing about removing the AFC versus grinding it is you can always put it back.

I have to correct you about the fuel curve, Z. There is also a negative torque control mechanism in the governor lever that limits fuel below about 1700 rpm. That said, the afc adjustments/mods have a more noticeable effect on performance than removing the torque control spring.

If you get those 6x16's you will want to put it back in. BTDT.

It limits fueling at low RPM.

Gotta replace it with a spacer. Makes the governor lever solid and allows full fuel at any RPM. Not necessary or desirable.
