Comparing my Diablo vs Superchips

I was stoked to finally get my Diablo Predator. I was unhappy with the amount of power my Superchips gave me after the last update. I ran the DIablo on RKL Extreme, non-stack. Power was awesome, but the smoke was an embarrassment. I put it to regualr extreme/non-stack. Smoke is still pretty bad. I drive around the smoke, being sure not to give it too much throttle before boost (I really don't enjoy driving that way). If I give it like 3/4 throttle from a stop in 2nd gear, a big black ball of smoke still comes on out. Now, both Diablo programs (awesome power) I have run slip my clutch too if I floor it before boost. The Superchips I could floor it any time and not worry about the clutch or the smoke.

I am just thinking out loud I guess. Now I must say the superchips does have great streetability. If you are comfortable with lots of smoke, then the Diablo does have great streetability as well. Lots of smoke when I am not going through the gears bugs me.

FYI, the HP/TQ rating for the Superchips is 130/270, RKL is 180/280 and the regular extreme is 160/230. Interesting numbers, comparing the HP/TQ of the Superchips Performance to the Diablo Extreme.

Like I said, just sharing thoughts. After some miles.
Thanx.

the stacker tunes with no puck do not smoke much at all....and let the stock clutch live!

I run stacker perf. 99% of the time. till i get the omighty SB clutch in my truck.

When i had fords the pred, was much more hp.but the super c. was covered under warranty.

I can not wait till i get the cluch in.....just keep buying other things. like my girl a new bike last week!

Interesting info guys. I still have not tried to run the stack tunes. My puck is still sitting in the box. Do the stack tunes make crazy rail pressure when the puck is not even on?

Thanx.

I just read a thread by 06trx (Thanx for sharing the cool info 06trx). Good info shared by a bunch of members on dyno results. It seems weird that Superchips posts dyno results of 130/270 while Diablo posts results of 180/280, 160/230, 100/170, etc. How can the Superchips have such a huge torque/low horsepower compared to the Diablo which has much more HP compared to torque? Weird, what numbers can I trust.

Thanx.

i am having a hard time believing 06trx got accurate numbers off that dyno. superchips doesnt add over 200 hp! and like stated the trq was very low for those hp numbers.

how much longer till the coveted extreme tune is going to be released?

Yeah, there is no way it adds that much power, I agree. Especially since the old SC tune felt so much faster than the recent tune. I need to start reading on dyno's I guess. I have sort of put off educating myself on diff. dyno's.

It is weird how different the numbers are from both manufacturers. SC with so much more torque than HP.

Thanx for sharing Brett.

Here's my 2cents worth. I ran a Smarty on my 06 auto and really enjoyed it, the smoke was excessive for my tatses even at the lower hp settings. I tried a Diablo Predator and the difference was night and day, WAY less smoke across the board and it FEELS like there is significantly more power. My fuel mileage has increased nicely over any setting on the Smarty and although it's not as warranty friendly, I'm sticking with the Diablo. A friend has a Superchips on his 06 auto and he also noticed a reduction in power after updating it and his top speed limiter was lowered as well. The Diablo on Extreme or ExtremeRKL will out perform the S/C at it's highest setting and this is with my 06 running 315's while his 06 is running stock tires and has a Stage 1 intake on it.

Cheers

Thanx for sharing Cookiemonster. I sometimes wonder if an automatic would not smoke like this? On a stick, leaving from a dead stop when there is no boost, giving it a little throttle leaves a big ball of black smoke (RKL and regular extreme). If I am full throttle going through the gears, smoke is not that bad. But if I am not going full throttle, and I give it like 3/4 (maybe less) throttle in the next gear, anywhere below like 2100 RPM's (guess), it smokes like mad. In an automatic (disclaimer - I have not had a turbo Diesel automatic), once it has boost, it seems like smoke would not be that bad.

Thanx again.

Probably very true on the auto/std comparison, I've never had a std. I find the Diablo across the board smokes less but I can sure leave a cloud if I load it up at a light. I laughed when you used the word "Embarassment" that's exactly how I felt with my Smarty and the ridiculous amount of smoke it left behind.

still smokes like crazy in an auto.
As far as what jwb600 said about the larger tunes smoking a lot - My hot juice, which is 180hp, smokes less than the performance tune and WAY less than the extreme tune on the Diablo.
