buddies 01' truck died tonight????
a buddy of mine called this evening & his 01' 6 spd. (which happens to be my old truck) had died, I went over & checked it out & the lift pump(s) were working, ( I installed a pusher pump on it when I owned it) & it had fuel to the filter, but just no fire, checked the codes & it showed a P 1693 & that was it, & it seems that that is just a code to tell you you have a code, the truck has 120,000 miles on a stock VP44 with bigger sticks & a van aaken timing box stacked with a blue chip fueling box, I'm guessing it finally went south on him???? would you guys think the same, we tried disconnecting the timing box & it didn't help anything, so I would imagine the pump is finally gone, any thoughts???? Same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago. Fortunatly I have a smarty and was able to pull the codes out with that right when it happened and get a pump ordered right away. Turned out to be the injection pump controller. Thats what your going to have do next, get a code reader and pull the codes out.

What was he doing when it died? If he was hot rodding around he may just need to bleed the injection lines. Normally if this is not the cause then the injection pump is next in line......

no he wasn't hot rodding at all, he was doing probably 35mph through town, & it just quit, said it started back once & then sputtered & died & won't start back now, where's the best place to buy a new pump, locally I can get one for about $1250 with a one year warranty?? sound decent???? thanks again, Dusty

I don't know where the best place is, but I just got my Hot rod VP from Doug. Lets just say I'm all smiles now.
Doug, I'll be calling you about a clutch soon.

do your self a favor and call doug for a good pump from industrial injection. You dont have to go with the hot rod pump but either pump you choose will be awesome. I bought a pump for around $1200 and it lasted 2000 miles before it died...and of course it was tapped so warranty was out of the question.
