Brake Interlock Switch?

Brake Interlock Switch?
I had a remote start put in this week. Truck was fine first day. Second day(this morning) I couldn't get it into park. I didn't have any time to diagnose it this morning, but I question the brake interlock switch.
So, my question is, will the brake lights work even if it's not triggering the brake trans interlock solenoid (BTIS)? Or can I use that idea to diagnose?
What I'm getting at is if the tail lights work, then I'm guessing it's the BTIS in the column, and not the interlock switch at the peddle. On the other hand, if the tail lights don't work, then I can assume it's the interlock switch.
I don't recall it making that clicking sound down there.
