Big Honkin' Air Filter.

Most aftermarket systems use oiled filters. BHAF is paper, no worries, no mess.

Here's the part number(s) for the filter

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1

Since the airbox is in a different place on the 3rd gen's then the 2nd gens, that's as much as I know.

You can just replace your stock airbox with the filter and it will work fine. The rubber boot is a very, very tight fit over the neck on the BHAF but you can make it fit. I ran mine that way for a while. You can replace the big round plastic can with the stainless tube from genogarage.com and get a little more air flow and turbo sound. You will have to put the air flow sensor somewhere too. I drilled a hole in the neck of the air filter. If you want to spend a little more then go to airflowsystemsonline.com and get some intake tubing to replace all the stock junk... Also do yourself a favor and if you go this route get the "Outerwears" cover. It traps lots of dirt and water and will make your filter last a lot longer.

Dodgezilla,

Do you have any problems with that huge filter hitting the hood when you close the hood? Or does it clear the hood? Does the BHAF have any affect on the noise of the intake, does it make it louder?

It doesn't hit the hood but you do have to remove the entire air box in order to fit it in there. It's kind of a tight fit and I had to put some rubber hose over the A/C line beside the radiator because the filter was rubbing against it.
You will hear the turbo a little more with the BHAF and if you go to a Torque tube or a custom one like mine you will get even more turbo.
