Looking for some DIY Info

I am coming up on 15k miles and I need to do all those oil changes, are there any guides out on the internet that anyone knows of, I have been searching for a while and cant find any. I dont know what oil or what kind and how much of it I need. The dealer wants $500 for the service, Im sure it wont cost me that much to do my self.

As far as engine oil is concerned, buy 3 gallons (12 quarts). Lots of choices out there...Rotella T, Mobil Delvac, Chevron Dello, Valvoline Premium Blue are probably the most popular. I've been using Rotella, but I am switching to Delvac this time around. Go to Genosgarage.com and order a 4/2/1 filter kit. It includes 4 oil filters, 2 fuel filters and 1 air filter.

The front and rear differentials take 75w90 snythetic. Again lots of choices, but I use Mobil 1 since it meets all the requirements. 7 quarts will be enough with some to spare.

The 6-speed takes either dealer oil, Penzoil Syncromesh or Redline MTL, which is what I used. I bought 5 quarts of that, and used about 4.5.

Last is the transfer case. Any ATF should be fine. To keep DC happy use ATF4. I'm going to use Redline C+ATF. The book says 2 quarts, but I heard someone say it took closer to 3.

This will cost you much less than 500 dollars. Ex..Engine oil about 20.00, Oil Filter about 10.00, Transmission Fluid about 35.00 Transfer case fluid about 25.00, Diff fluids about 50.00. Throw in a fuel filter for 10 dollars and you've spent about 150.00. Should take you a morning to do it all.

Hope this helps.

John
