bad news, got ???s
My dad's truck went to the dealer. He was driving the truck after it went it started having problems. The truck wanted to die at idle, so instead of idleing at lights he would keep it reved. This was while he was trying to drive to the dealer. It did not make it to the dealer. So we towed it in. They said the lift pump was out and they were going to relocated it to inside the fuel tank ($1000). The truck has 111,000 and is totaly stock. After that now they say all 6 injectors are " burnt out". I have never heard of such a thing and now they want $500/ea for injectors. So I imagine they will say the injector pump is out, next. We are trying to get cummins or dodge pay for some part of this. So if they dont pay any, we are going to take the truck home and try to replace the injectors ourself. So I need info about what to do and what it may cost? Thanks for all of your input. Knowledge is greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry to say it, but if that motor has more than 100,000 miles on it (which it does) then the Cummins warranty is out as well. As far as what is at fault, I would maybe have it re-evaluated by somebody NOT your dealership before dropping all sorts of money on things that they claim you "NEED". It may just be the lift pump, it may just be a bad injector or two...HIGHLY doubtful that ALL of them went at the same time. Just my opinion

I'd be putting in the GDP Walbro Pump Kit for HALF that ESTIMATED PRICE. Then start 'er up and see if there is any kind of issues with the injectors. Sounds a little bogus to me. You can also get the LP from an auto parts a LOT cheaper and install it yourself. You can find the repair manuals online, just follow their instructions, piece of cake.
