Just purchase a 2007 2500 5.9 48re. After towing the first time at about
1000 miles I have noticed the engine tapping. The engine started as a wa wa wa wa wa now its a tap tap tap. I don't remember my 2005 5.9 making this sound? Any ideas or maybe its normal?

 

My guess is a bad injector, I've pulled very heavy since the truck had 220 miles on it and I had no noises. I've got 19k on it now and still nothing, looks like we have the same truck.

 

were does it sound klike it is coming from mine haS TAPPED SINCE DAY ONE

 

From day one, mine has tapped. Louder than the 06 ctd I had.

 

I think your hearing normal engine sounds......mine taps also.....my '03 tapped
