241DHD popping gears...
The shifter is jumping all over the place. I researched the symptoms and decided that it had to be the snap ring broke. I couldn't drop the drive train (couldn't break loose the hanging bearing) so I took to a local transmission shop. They got the drive line dropped and then told me that the 241DHD did not have the snap ring problem(something about the long housing). My truck is sitting at the shop right now waiting for them to tear into it Monday morning.
Does my transfer case have the snap ring fault?
What other issues could cause the transfer case to jump?
One of the first things I checked was fluid, it was VERY low.
Started with a small pop early in the day (going down hill, after going from 3rd to 4th gear) Progressively got worse to where it happens now regardless of uphill, downhill or any gear...

Well, never got a response. Seems the NP241 DHD does not have the snapring default. Prior owner did a shoddy rebuild on my TransferCase and had put it together with RTV instead of gaskets. Speaks volumes for Heavy Duty still made it 45k plus miles on less than reasonable rebuild. -Tim
