cold start heaters coming on at 65 degres

cold start heaters coming on at 65 degres
need help. on 2001 dodge ram with cummings engine the cold start heaters still come on when the outside tempeture is 65 and the cycle last for 2 minutes this is a great discharge on battery. are there a adjustment to set the actavator to a lower temp. to avoid this battery drain.thanks fromGUY1996

You can unhook the cable that runs from the solenoid to the heaters. The relay will still come on, but there won't be a load on the other end.

Mine will do this also.
Stock batteries lasted for 10 years so I didn't worry about it.
Not sure if IAT has anything to do with it but maybe try cleaning it and see if it helps.

with all of the above statements.
The IAT sensor is the trigger.... It might be 65 when you go to fire it up, but it probably was a lot cooler during the night... all of that metal is still going to be cold... as soon as the engine fires up, the intake air is cooled by any cold metal it touches.
