04 Cummins Intercooler or Powerstroke on 1st Gen?
Anyway to stick this 04 Cummins intercooler in a 1st gen truck? Have not looked at the intercooler next to the first gen yet. Thanks If it won't work is the powerstroke intercooler the way to go? Is the powerstroke intercooler that much better then the stock 91.5-93 intercooler steup? Working on a 90 Cummins in a 80 crew 4x4.

The Powerstroke IC will be much easier to fit in. G1625S did a 3rd gen IC in his 89 and had to cut quite a bit of frame off the front. Look in his gallery he has a bunch of pictures. I had a Powerstroke IC in my truck and the install was fairly easy (if your mechanically inclined). It took me about 5 hours start to finish. You will need to do alot of trim work on the rad support and grill depending on the set up you have.

Yeah I'd do the stroke cooler if I were you. I did a 3rd gen cooler in my truck, and cut 5-7? cores out of it to make it fit vertically, and I cut an inch off of one side so that I didn't have to cut ALL of the radiator support up. I had to put it in upside-down, and the hood safety latch doesn't fit anymore so I had to go with hood pins. 2nd gen cooler would be a better option than a 3rd gen, but I bet the stroke cooler would fit the best. I believe there is a sticky on both of them. I should do a sticky on the 3rd gen, just so people know what they're getting into...
