Update on my WTS issue.

As some of you know I have the wts problem that kills the trucks power when the light is on, I replaced the batteries and cleaned and tightned all the connections and grounds, problem still existed so after reading on here I learned it might be a software issue so today the dealer was going to update it but the truck has the latest on it already so they said it needed a lift pump fuel flow test, injector return test and injector pump test to see what's causing the issue as they think it's a fuel problem, $225 for the test, any advice? The truck doesn't seem to show any signs of fuel problems but I'm no professional, not sure what it has to do with the wts light, what should I do first? The 9 codes I'm still showing are 0148 1222 1223 0121 0107 0073 0193, 0532 and 0533 which I know are ac problems, truck runs great unless the wts light comes on, I appreciate any help guys.

If I can get this totally straight. These codes only occur after the WTS light comes on?

You don't have a fuel problem. You have a ghost voltage problem. I would be quite willing to throw the TIPM out there as the suspect. Your ECM software may well be up to date, but did they reflash the TIPM while they were in there? IF they did not, I would have them test it, and do a quick reflash.

We spent a BUNCH of hours on an 06 here, that was exhibiting some of the same symptoms. We ended up having to replace the TIPM, due to some internal issues with the unit. We flashed it, and the problems all went away. BUT, at the price of those things, ALWAYS try a reflash first.

Good luck

Thanks for the info, what is the Tipm, I know when he told me it was a fuel issue I thought to myself there's no way, its not showing any fuel symptoms, this is my whole concern, I don't want to be spending money on parts that don't need to be replaced like the dealer thinks, I'll call them Monday and see if they reflashed it, if they tell me they did what would you recommend as my next step, thanks.

The WTS issue is well known & complex.

There is a Feb 2012 Chrysler Service Bulletin that explains the Chrysler ECU firmware update that causes this issue.

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/sm...ml#post5125435

Chrysler add a new firmware "feature" to alert the operator when the fuel system is having issues. It's hard to say if the new firmware is working correctly of if some trucks had fuel system issues prior.
It's really stupid that the new firmware feature sets the WTS light & immediately derates the engine rather than just setting the CEL with new codes P1222, P1223.

There is a ton of more reading on this issue as the Smarty guys 1st found out about this:

I had this same problem, the problem was a loose injector tube (#6) needed to be retorqued. Apparently it had somehow loosened up and was leaking.
