No offense intended! .
Maybe it was stalling out if put in gear before warmed up?
There was something you warned me about before I drove it??

Just thought it might run a bit better at low RPM's... due to higher cetane rating on Biodiesel.

None taken! Brakes stick like crazy after she sits... Have a seeping axle seal that I think gets tacky on the drum...

You are correct though, if you fire her up cold and dont give her a good 20secs to build some heat (idle is fine ) she may die kicking into gear with the brake on... Only done it a couple times, just learned to let it chill for a bit and get that tranny fluid moving anyways...

Really didn't notice any running difference, but didn't run it very long either, only 40 miles or so out to the lake and back.

Thanks Mike! You can still take your lady on a cruise sometime though. Im sure she would enjoy it very much.

Thanks Brian and Rowland, I appreciate it. I plan on adding some tonight we shall see how it does.

Does anyone know how long B100 will sit in the drum before bad stuff starts happening? growing algae or anything to lose its potency.

Not sure if it's compatible with B100 or not, but we used to pick up a bottle of biocide/water disperser and put it in the bulk tank and the tractor fuel tanks. Especially in the winter when you have the temperature changes that will cause condensation in your tank, which lead to algae growth.

If I remember the name of it, I'll post a link.

Eli - To form algea, you must have water. Algea can only live on the oxygen at the boundry layer between the fuel and the heavier water in the bottom of the tank.

So keep the drum caped tight. Also keep it out of the sun and store it in as cool and airy a place as you have.
As I mentioned above, Canola B100 is the best in terms of longevity due to higher levels of anti-oxidents in the canola plant.

For best results, syphon what you use off top of fuel in drum. As you get near bottom, check for stuff!
That's why syphoning into that jug is a good idea. You can see what it looks like.

Another indicator of good Bio fuel is the sweet smell and clear (as opposed to cloudy) color.
Any doubts, filter through some cheese cloth stuck down in mouth of that wide mouth, 2.5gal jug!
Bush pilots in northern canada have been doing that for yrs!

Thanks Brian (aka "Gopher") & Rowland (aka "Long Ranger") for getting this stuff to us!

RJ - any feedback from your chemist about the effects of pulling a vacuum in the drum on shelf life?
Or if the actual mechanism of breakdown affects lubricity, since the fatty esters don't contribute?

We could discuss it when you drop off the B100 - it'll give us something to do while we're shovel-spreading the 10 yard pile of DOT base delivered today...

I feel a bit like RJ right now.. We had another snow storm the other night so instead of cinder clocks this time I used 3 drums full of water to keep a little weight in the rear, truck rides nice. I think I see the use for a concrete bed liner now...
Congrats again Robert...

I will not be joining the ranks anytime soon.

Yeah!
Had 2000 lbs in the bed this morning... on the hwy at 75 mph. Had forgotten that the CTD could ride like a caddy when it has a lot of weight in it.

600 lbs over gross was just right!

I was wondering if I was breaking any laws hauling 600gallons of diesel across the state!

If you were 600lb over hate to think what I was!! Tool box is over 200lb with nothing in it! and there is some crap in there! lol

Traction bars dont even let the front overload touch the pad.... wonder if that is bad?

Not at all - they increase the effective spring rate under load.

Brian, my Dad's 97 Auto was the same way, it just wasn't meant to start up and drive away (especially on a cold day).
