Justin,
You still running Autozone Gold batteries?
I just got my second free set at between 2.5 and 3 yrs. 100% adjustment!
With 8-10 starts average a day, I seem to go through them fast. One starts to fail a bit and the local AZ replaces both for free!
Never really have any starting problems but it first shows up as irratic tranny shifting (electronic auto's seem to be finicy about low voltage).
These Gold Tops are a 'best buy' for me.

Mike - your post had me looking out the window.... just saw first flakes falling. Wierd cause it's 36*.

No, I switched to Optima Redtops in October of '08. I got tired of the having to constantly pull the cables off the posts to clean all the corrosion off of them. If I didn't do it every few months, the bolts would just disintegrate into nothing. I tried the felt pads, the corrosion sprays and whatever I could find, but it didn't work. Ever since the Optimas went in, clean as can be.

They have a 3 year replacement warranty, they just don't have the full 8 year pro-rate like the DuraLast Golds do.

Bout 3-4" of snow on the truck in Grapevine this am... Never stopped in Richardson today and been going constant the rest of the evening in Grapevine....

Lots of snow on the ground now............

I'd say nay on the nylon tubing, depending on what kind it is teh diesel will eat it and make it soft then leaky in short order.

I put a charger on the passenger side and it would take a charge and would hold up under load for about 7-8 seconds, then it would drop like a rock.

Might be more of an issue for me since my truck routinely sits for 3-4 days without being started up. The constant slow discharge, then rapid recharge while running might not be a good for those Redtops. Plus the topper might have been in December when it sat for 10 days in the cold, since it was almost completely dead when I tried to start it (the grids completed drained the batts when I hit the key).

BTW...does your last century truck have the ID lights on the door switches??

You only replaced one battery?? I thought they were supposed to be replaced in pairs only,..... no? I thought you got new batteries back in Dec. after I came over to jump ya off....

How long are the stockers good for?....im still on the originals...almost 6 years.

Any recommendations? Looking for something better than regular fuel line with barb fittings on the ends. I wanted a better termination so I don't have to worry about leaks. But it seems my options for small line are a little limited.

No, they were still OK after that day. But I don't think having them completely dead did them any favors. I've always heard to replace them in pairs, but you gotta do what you gotta do when only one tests out to be bad. The guy actually wanted to put it on a trickle charge for 8 hours then retest, but I told him I already did that and that's what he was testing it after. He went ahead and tagged it and got me a new one. Not too worried about it as the driver's side battery tested well. In any case, I'll keep an eye on it since I still have a year and a half left on it's warranty.

It was a pain to work with, but I went to (I think) SW Int in McKinney and got a piece of black, diesel rated hose (somewhere around 1/4' OD). I used push-on fitting with hose clamps. I had to tighten the clamps a couple of times right after the install, but it's been all good for 6/7 years now with no leaks.

The only diesel approved fule lines I've ever seen is really thick, stiff, and expensive. Sounds like that's what Charlie used.
I got it from a marina.... maybe they have smaller sizes?

I use -4AN SS braided line with the appropriate NPT adapters at both ends...

tastes great AND it's less filling!

Anyone watch the Olympics this afternoon. Great coverage! Looks like I'll be a couch potato for the next two weeks!
BUT... what to do tommorrow? Olympics and Daytona 500 on at the same time.
I better refresh on how to work PIP!

No, I had a weak stomach after watching that dude from Georgia splat on the luge - hit that steel pole at almost 90 mph... besides, with 8" of global warming on the ground, we had our own Winter Olympic snowball competition.

Me vs. the Dachshunds... though outnumbered, I eked out a win - never underestimate the value of opposable thumbs!

Ahhhh! Down here in sunny, dry Round Rock Texas. Too bad I have a lot of things to take care of and won't get to get out and enjoy it very much.

AMEN to that!

Anyone catch the Daytona 500? With the new rules (now a contact sport again) the race was very exciting.
"Rubbing is Racing" again... like back in the 70's!!
AND, Danica Patrick is part of the Ernhart Motor Sport team!

I used a diesel rated hose with push lok fittings... no clamps, no leaks....

On another fluid hose and leaking note, my onboard air amazes me! (tooting my own horn... maybe push lok's horn too) I lose less than .5psi per day in the whole system (tested over a month with the compressor off and not using the e brake) Very impressed... Install of this hose was over a year ago... Poly quick lock tubing (DOT approved for air brakes) sucked... guess that big compressor on big rigs dont have to worry about leaks..
