That's insane! I hauled a 21' deckboat from Sherman to Texoma with a Chevy Luv one time........I pulled it up the hills and it pushed me down the other side.

We buy big trucks to pull big trailers...but we've got it backwards. I saw this little truck that looked about the size of the Chevy Luv from back in the day (who knows, they might still make it down here). They pulled the bed off and put a gooseneck hitch on it. Then they had about a 24' tandem axle gooseneck behind it that was converted to an enclosed box from over the neck to the tail. About the height of a tall 5th wheel. If I had seen it sooner, I would have pulled out the phone and snapped a pic. The truck looked tiny under the trailer...but I guess he didn't have any trouble with being too tall and needing to flip the axles on the trailer.

Matt, I'm thrilled that your college education is paying off. You have managed to learn something the rest of learned in the 2nd grade.

Seriously, our crime and call load is down. I don't know exactly what it is except that we just have more boots on the ground from the hiring in the last couple of years.

Some of it I know is playing with the crime numbers (administration) but crime actually is down. I can feel it on the street.

Yeah it only took 12 hours of MBA level courses to teach me that.

Rob I guess so much for the theory that crime goes up when the heat goes up.
It could be because the economy being as bad as it is nobody has anything left to steal.

Well crime is down all year. Not just because it got hot. We had about 2800 sworn officers 3 or so years ago and now we are up to like 3200. Now understand that that is everybody sworn...., detectives, supervisors, administration, dispatch, traffic, etc. etc.....

But we still have about 300 extra boots on the ground (my guess about 1500-1700 total actually on the streets). So I think it makes an impact. Some of it may be better intelligence and intelligence sharing with our "Fusion" center and then some pretty big busts that eradicated some large swaths of crime. Things kind of have an ebb and flow to them though..........I just hope the very liberal Dallas County DA don't hand slap the ones we do arrest......and that the TX state prison system doesn't push more out the back door when they are going in the front due to budgetary reasons.

Crime is down. And crime and call load seeeeeem to be down even more due to (my guess) the heat so far this summer. The economy doesn't seem to be effecting us that much, thus far. Maybe a few more shoplifts etc.

I'd be happy to work myself out of a job...
