Cute!
Not only did he respond late...he never asnwered the question.
I pulled in 4Low...second gear. Was warned that using third, the tranny would down shift towards end of pull and the my CTD would not enjoy that expirience!
Safer this way...but I probably gave up 5' cause max speed in 2nd is 20 mph. (did you get that Brian?)

Whoever it was y'all waved to me. I walked around the pits for a little while. Y'all mght have seen me. I was wearing a red farmboys diesel hoodie. I saw quite a few of you under youre hoods so I wasnt gonna come up and bother y'all. I will be at the next meet tho so hopefully I can meet all y'all. The only person I met was Mike (XLR8). Most of the pros all claim that a 33" AT is the best overall pulling tire/tread combo...

RJ at least had the AT part right

Using this nifty Calc http://www.42fordgpw.com/tcalc1.html I was running 18.5mph... if I would have used 4th it would have been 27.2MPH! Big difference! 2nd gear 4HI would have been 30mph... Of course this is all granted I could hold the same RPM I held in Alvarado

RJ if you were running at the same RPM I was you would have been running 26MPH, but if you were holding it at 3200 you were running at 23MPH...

Soooo you were running more tire speed than me!

You want tire speed, and want to get the tires spinning off the line.

MT's bite too much....alot of the big guys around here run 33" - 35" BFG/AT that are worn down 50% to give them that slip off the line....

After Dyno graph....with HP dropping off after 2800 rpm, I tried to hold it just under 3000 rpm.... whatever speed that was??

Dan - This track was soft, indoor, rodeo sand! Biggest problem was not spinning out on start... or anywhere in first third of pull, IMO.

Yep that's what I have been hearing... I just wasn't ready for the 4th gear pull yet!

22mph

I held her open from 3600-3800 on the whole run.... Wanted ans much wheel speed as I could get out of that low gear... Figured I was above the Max TQ and HP so if I started bogging down it would hit the max marks!!

Thanks!
Brian, I just timed our runs. Close as I can tell we were only 1 sec (max) apart....so average speed must have been very close??
That makes sense with your 3rd at 1.67 and my 2nd at 1.45. You being at higher rpm would have negated most difference. Interesting....NO?

Still don't know best way to pull? Gear? RPM?... etc.

your 22mph probably had more slip with your ATs then my 18.5MPH did with the MTs so that sounds about right
