3rd Gen QC are 4" longer than 2nd Gen QC - all in the back seat.
3rd Gen leaf packs are also exactly 4" longer - that contributes significantly to the ride quality.

Is the wheelbase 4" longer also?
And not all.... The front door on 3rd gen Quads is much shorter (front to back) than mine. That's why I bgt a used 02. Was waiting for the 03's to come out... went and sat in one, and the post was right next to my head, blocking side vision.
I think they took 4" off the front door and added 8" to the back door!

My dad just got a 2010 Dodge 1500 company truck with the crew cab and man that back seat is alot nicer then the previous models. Not as roomy as the mega but a true crew cab.

noticed truck was squeaking today. got under it, rear u joint is trashed.( luckily it did not fail like Rob's)
Bought three and will replace them tomorrow ($75) I was surprised all three were the same size. ( precision U joint # 330 )
Any tips on install?
I will have access to the schools auto/ diesel shop, should be a press I can use in there.

How many miles on those U-Joints?
Back in 2004+/-, 2nd Gens were posting about loosing U-Joints all over the country. Most were in the 100,000-130,000 mile range.
Diesel Dan & I did mine in his John Deere Shop at 100,000 as preventative MX, back when I was traveling a lot more.
Don't here much about 2nd round replacements, so after markets appear to be holding up well?

186K on the originals, front two look to be ok and feel tight. But, I am going to replace them anyways.
From what I am reading it seems that the stock ones are junk, and anything grease able is far superior. if you search ' U joint ' on this site almost all of the threads that come up on the 1st page are 3rd gens. Looks like you 2nd genners fixed them a while back.

170k now on my stockers!! You guys stop talking about this breaking crap! lol
Make sure to orient the grease zerk correctly (if it is the type that is mounted on the cast part of the joint and not the cap)... want the grease zerk to be in compression rather than tension to keep from ripping them apart (some have warnings on this)

It's like ball joints. Mine are original at 185,000! That's almost unheard of, especially with 315's.
Your U-joints may be the exception to the rule as well. I'm sure they will last at least another 1000 miles.
Congrats!

U joints done, should have taken 1 hour.... took about 4 . . just had a bear of a time. nothing went smoothly. thought they gave me the wrong size, trashed one. it was just a pain for us in the beginning, then smoothed out in the last hour until we could not get the shaft tot stab into the tranny(new main shaft is TIGHT). glad its done..

No Crandall for me!
Thought I'd share the latest cool anti theft "tool".... a hose clamp to prevent tail gate theft, which apparently is a growing business!
Not foolproof but it moves the time required from 10 sec to minutes (and requires thief to be carrying tools.
