Yet another e-brake thread: 04 prices

Hi y'all,

Okay, I finally got my 3500 and I love it!! You guys encouraged me to move on up to DRW and I'm so glad I did--you were right; I got used to the "hips" pretty quick. I parallel parked it in town on the first day (without tragedy, LOL)!

I'm about to be doing a lot of hauling with a 12k (loaded) gooseneck, and I'd like to get an e-brake. Mainly looking at the Jacobs due to good reviews but also the warranty thing.

My questions have to do with price--was there a big price increase for the 04s?? For just the parts alone, both Cummins and the local Dodge house have quoted me $1,325 without tax. Cummins wanted $6-800 to install; the Dodge house wanted $400. Yikes.

Is this what those puppies are going for, or is this ridiculous?

Have called three other big truck places, but they either don't handle Jacobs or don't install.

Thanks for any input here---I'm going to be pulling this trailer (not fully loaded---at about 9K) over the mountains soon, and it would be nice to get this done.

$1325.00 is the DC list price on the Jacobs. Sometimes a dealer will negotiate the price. I had mine installed for $260.00 by the local dealer. The reason for the higher price is the 3rd generaton does not have a vacuum pump, so the kit includes a pump and new belt.

If you are handy you can install if yourself in about 4 hours. The instructions are excellent.

Also scan ebay for them. They come and go there. I paid in the 900 range if I remember shipped. Install is a 3 beer job at most. Vac pump and belt was the worst. You gotta have a heavy jack for the front tho. AND JACK STANDS. Good luck
