Yes you can charge 2 6v batteries. The need to be set up in Series so you you have 1 positive and 1 neg terminal hooked to your truck, and the batteries tied together using a Pos and Neg terminal. Some of our older John Deeres were setup this way from the factory. Not sure why you want to deal with the hassle of 2 batteries though.

My father's brainstorm employee, that I would FIRE first thing, attempted to jump-start one of our John Deeres, a 4230, that had the two sixes wired for twelve-volts.

He just clamped on to one of the batteries posts.

It fried the alternator on the tractor, the alternator on the truck, and blew both batteries.

I replaced them with two Group 31s, making it a two-battery twelve-volt system.

As for your question, YES, you can connect your truck to two six-volt batteries, PROVIDED they are connected in series, truck + to battery +, that battery - to other battery +, that battery - to truck ground.

(2) 6V Golf Cart Batteries provide an optimal amount of deep cycle Storage for most RV's. They can be had at SAM's & other places, about $55 each.
There are better batterries for much higher price.

You run the 2 6 volt batteris because you can get more amps and lasting power out of two 6 volts that you can two 12 volts in the same group size.
