Why wont my brakes release?
I need your help again guy's. I have a brand new PJ Dump Trailer. In fact it is so new that I haven't even towed it yet. Why? Because I can't get the brakes to release unless I unplug it. I found the connector under the dash for my control box, bought the pigtail that plugs into the connector and the box (Draw-Tite ActivatorII). Brakes will not let go. Why? What am I missing now? I had the trailer delivered and he had no problem with his box. He said it worked fine, same box (Draw-Tite). So, is the problem with the box?
Are you using a 6-pin plug? If so, this is pretty common. Unlike the 7-pin Pollock-style RV plug, the 6-pin wiring convention isn't as well established. Frequently, the +12V lead and trailer brake leads will be reversed between the truck and trailer connectors. This puts a continuous +12V onto the trailer brakes. The solution is to chase the wires in the trailer's 6-pin connector and move them to match the truck's wiring. If you're using a 7-to-6 adapter, many of them will allow you to swap wires within the adapter for this purpose.

Hey don't go and rewire that plug just yet . I'll bet that your trailer is a 6way and you are using a 6 to 7 adapter ? If so they make two different types of adapters
one with 12v hot in center and the other with 12v hot on the side. I would guess you have the one with the 12v hot in the center. I also ran into this problem and could not move the trailer.I hope you get this before you take it apart.

Testlight and a helper on truck recep. Write down schematic. 12volt source and helper. Touch each pin on trailer and write down schematic. Compare schematics.
Remember turn signals are brake lights. First check for your constant 12 volt. then turn signals, marker lights, break control.
When checking trailer, same procedure, you will hear brakes click. Hope this helps.
GOOD LUCK
Rick

If it did then what the rest of them said and if it didn't then check your wiring
Either way check the wiring
