The Megacab Dually comes with a camper cert in the glove box. 1734 lbs if memory serves....

None of it makes sense. In fact I picked up a 07 spec sheet when last at the dealer and it appears the 3500 SRW Mega Cab has been upped to 10,100 GVWR from the previouse 9,900?????? While the Mega Dually still remains at 10,500 GVWR??????

The most puzzling to me is this info from my door plaqard...

Front 5200 lbs
Rear 9350 lbs
Total 14550 lbs

Thats 4050lbs difference between axle ratings and GVWR

Or if I take the info from my tires..

Front 6190
Rear 11340
total 17530

Oh well, I am sure there is a reason for the lower rating....I think it has to do with some bad math somewhere It should be within a hundred pounds of the QC Dually...

Pulled into the dealer a few weeks ago to get something for the wifes Durango and had the camper on my truck... Salesman I bought truck from came out and talked for a bit......even took a pic. Service manager came out and took a look, asked him about GVWR and warranty, he stated that the camper would be off when I brought it in for warranty RIGHT? I said, only if it breaks down with the camper off!!!!! He said, "yea, but we would have to remove it to get it in the shop anyway!!!!!! Only issue he would have trouble getting covered would be if the frame bent or broke. But he didn't think that would happen.....

I still say they are pretty much meaningless, otherwise Ford couldn't have arbitrarily raised the tow rating of their F-150 and claimed they made a printing error after the Titan came out and could pull more than the F-150. It's all B.S. if you ask me.....

I suspect the reduced GVW is due to where the axle is located in relation to the box. It's about balance, front to rear, on the axles. Too much weight aft of the axle and the dfront's gonna get squirelly.

Me and Pauly were wondering why they upped the rating on the new Megacab SRW on another forum.....DC must have done it just to fit the added weight of the 6.7.
