The "White Ghost" at work!
Re:The "White Ghost" at work!
Thats the problem I have with my 6-horse living quarters. Most of these campgrounds are made for these little 3 or 4 horse trailers but I have a heck of a time getting my sixer in some of these places. It's 30' on the belly and then the 8' nose makes it a little tough sometimes.

I have an old Miley 2-horse with a walk-in tack/dressing, makes it the size of a 4-horse.
My wife and I enter Yosemite on the SE side via chain lakes route. We missed our turn late one night and had to jacknife the trailer, unhitch turn around and rehitch. Sounds easy

I would'nt (could'nt)take it where I go.
Wade,

We go all over with our RV's. I have had some pretty good sized ones and found very few places I could not take it. We love National, State and Local parks. Hey, Wally World works for overnight too. There are obviously some areas that are too cramped and sometimes you have to look around for a site large enough. I find the slide outs are just as big a problem as the length. Many sites are not setup to handle slides. Just as long as there is good fishing close by I will find some place it will fit.

Bob

You have obviously not been to Florida. Hills? There are a few mole hills around Ocala, but Florida is very flat. Nothing like looking to your East where you are.
Re:The "White Ghost" at work!
Someone said Wally World was cutting back on its overnight guests?

I know there is one here in Oregon has "No Overnight" use signs all over.

Hope no one shops there

Hunter

Hunter,

From all I have seen, it is a local thing. Some municipalities do not allow it. I think the firm itself encourages it as long as people don't decide to "winter quarter" there. We become as inconspicuous as possible whenever we stop there - - no slides, no awning, no BBQ grille and tailgate party. One of our local Wallies you cannot overnight, the other down the road about 15 miles you can.

Long live Wally (especially their stock 8) )

Bob
Re:The "White Ghost" at work!
We were in Anchorage, AK in 2000, we spent 5 nites in an RV park and one night at Wally World. Over half the parking at Wally's was taken by RVs spending the night. In the morning there was a letter from the store manager which to paraphrase it was something of the following:

"Dear RVer:

The Wal-Mart Family of Anchorage is pleased that you have chosen us as your over-night location while visiting Anchorage. We hope you are enjoying your visit to our community and have taken advantage of the specials we offer in our store.

Due to the large number of RVers visiting our community we ask that you limit the number of nites you spend over-night at Wal-Mart to three nites per season.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Joe Moose
Manager"

I believe that all Wally World stores should have this kind of policy. If RVers do not police themselves then all may lose the priviledge. Wally's parkinglots should not be considered an RV Park. I will only use them if I need a place to stop over-night and there are no RV Parks available in the area.

Wally's Anchorage had been getting bad TV and Radio coverage over this practice. On camera for the 6:00 p.m. News, a retired MD was interviewed in Wally's parking lot. This MD had stayed there already for 6 weeks in his PREVOST with his wife and intended to stay the remainder of the summer. His wife was a visiting nurse, working at a local hospital for the summer. Talk about a "cheep skate". This is the type of thing giving all RVers a bad name.
You've got to be kidding. If he can handle a PREVOST, he can sure handle a campground cost. Lousy, and you are right, it reflects on us all.

Bob
