Where to put a safe in a TT

I'm wanting to put a small safe in the TT for the purpose of securing valuables while we're away and for storing a firearm. The question is, do I hide the safe in a very inconspicuous spot (I have to get on my knees and look around a corner to see it) or someplace more obvious but easily accessible? Anyone have a safe in your trailer?

On my 5'ver there is a lock box under the bed. If your bed raises up for storage under its frame that may be a good spot.

I installed a small one in our 5th wheel next to the bunk under the TV mount on the floor. Ran the bolts thru the carpet and floor above the propane tank and secured them. Cover it with a pillow or blanket or my dirty clothes. works great for firearm and cash. Under the bed would be another good out of the way area. Anywhere that you can secure it.

For the 03 and newer trucks there is a product called the Console Vault, it installs in the bottom area of the console and is very secure. There are a lot of places to buy them online but you can just google console vault and find a bunch.

For the older trucks it isn't as easy but there are products that will bolt a frame or mounting plate into the truck and another in the TT and you can swap the security box back and forth between them. I can't remember what they are called but a safe store should be able to help you out.

Well put it in a safe place!!! Sorry I just had to say that!!

The console safes work great! As far as something in a TT I would put it somewhere that you could bolt it down to the frame or to some sort of solid object so the safe can't be taken. You could put it under the bed and mount it to the frame under there. Just depends on what you have to work with I guess.

Wink depends there Bro...

What is your primary worry? access for protection (which only works if it is a coyote, bad guys usually come prepared)
or security FROM someone....

thieves usually target bedrooms.. if it isn't portable and integral lock system, (no padlock) then it is a good idea..... under mattress near feet is a good cut out option and easy access for those fire safety boxes. fit the gun and cash like you want. good protection for a fifty dollar item.

I personally like the obvious, behind a wall panel. trim has magnets on it for access, then off comes the panel. just inside the fiver's door area. or for fancier ones, just behind a end table, turn the end table, drop the panel and go...

just note that you may want to leave the pistola at home if crossing state lines, but you are near Texas....heheheh
good luck in all your travels!

I thought that when you crossed into TX, if you didn't have a gun, they issued you one.

Seriously, thanks for all the ideas. I guess my concern is that I don't want to put it in such a "hidden" spot that it's too much of a pain to use and defeats the purpose of having it because I don't want to hassle with getting to it.

Anyone ever found that the "perfect" location was just to much of a pain to use?

Yeah most of the times the perfect spot is in an unreal place to get to easily. Just as long as you mount it somewhere where the safe box can't be taken or pulled off the mounts easy!
