Buy on line. e-trailer is a solid store with good prices.

What are the benefits of the P3 over the Prodigy? Is it worth the extra $40?

New idiot light design is the biggest change. Rather then set a code for errors it just tells you what the fault is. There may be something deep inside that is new and better but it is not $40 better.

The P3 has an option for elec / hydr brakes as well as standard electric brakes, it also has a better lighting choice to match your dash colors.. I started out with the prodigy now I have a P3 in both trucks..

Here is a link to the Tekonsha site for the P3:

Be sure to order an OEM brake harness (it will save you some splicing) it is the same harness for the P3 and the Prodigy.

I think so. Plus I like the pretty blue display.

I have nothing but good to say about the P3's the price is right and i like the functions...the electric / hydraulic feature allows you to tow a trailer with an older elec / hydr actuator... the problems with some of the early trailer brake controllers is the way they sent out the signal that gave you a "Trailer Connected" icon on your controller would actually engage the elec / hydr trailer brakes..
