When is Dodge going to catch-up?
Well, it looks like there is nothing new in the links. Cummins still describes the 6.7 as 305hp and 600 flbstorq for the chasis Cabs 4500/5500 trucks. Motorhomes do not count as if they are rated differant, which I doubt, they won't find there way into a 3500/4500/5500 chasis cab or truck. Nothing was written on those engines.
The catch up story was on the new Ford Engine, its power and torque. So I guess we'll have to wait for Dodge to allow Cummins to kick it up to its advertised, when first annouced 850 ft/lbs of Torque capability.
Nothing here talks to increase in GCVW ratings. Any ratings increase will come from Dodge and not Cummins for the 4500/5500 trucks.
It seems we were talking trucks and you were talking Motorhomes. One thing for sure, you will not ever see that powerchoke in a motorhome.
Thanks for the info.

No, I'm still talking trucks here. Simply using those links to illustrate the specs of the 6.7 in other applications, that it is currently capable of more HP, and that it is currently using urea in those applications. With that in mind, MAYBE that could be what is in store for the furture Ram trucks. pcm
All the talk of an 8-speed auto with a torque converter. What happented to the auto-sticks built by Mersades? Think of the advantages; No trans cooler or hoses, direct lockup in "ALL" gears not some or most, no real wear items except the oil bath clutch to replace. If anyone is wondering why I'm against this new 8-speed, it's because it was designed for a dan car!
They could have easily had a 6 speed in 98 but didn't set things up to use the OD in any gear but drive. I think a large part of having higher ratings in a motor home or larger truck application comes from being able to put a bigger radiator in it. And Dodge probably doesn't want to mess with having to install the urea equipment, like they didn't bother setting up their overdrive and programming it to turn their 3 speed into a 6 instead of a 4. An 8 speed auto would be nice, though, and I think that Eaton or Spicer has/had an 8 or 10 speed self-shifting trans, but you still needed to clutch it when stopping.
