What a difference a new air filter makes!

I just got back from my latest trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa @480 miles round trip for a paint horse show my wife was in last night. What a difference a new air filter makes.

I bought a 4, 2, 1 kit from genos and was changing my oil two weeks ago so I put the air filter in. The old one had a foam 1/2 pad under it and it was broken up in the center and a grass clump in the air box. I check the piping and turbo and every thing was filtered but I'm glad I changed it.

But the major surprise was the bump in performance in towing my rig and improved MPG. I towed to Cedar Rapids in June and got about 10.5 MPG and had to keep my foot in it to keep it rolling. This time it was effortless at any speed and 14 MPG.

The best part about the trip was out pulling my friends 2002 Ford 350 7.3 Diesel short bed. I was much faster starting out from a standing start and the best part was when they had to stop for diesel after 175 miles when I had over a 1/2 a tank left.

This is why I bought this CTD! ;D ;D 8)

I just replaced my old air filter that didnt have that foam on
the bottom. It was real dirty with what looked as alot of diesel
soot. My new one has that foam on the bottom.Should I leave
the foam on it or take it off? I called Genos and asked if I
should leave it on and they said to leave it on.I think it would
last longer by takeing it off when it is dirty and the main filter
should still be relitively clean. Thank you

Leave it on. I had a clump of grass from some animal who may have tried to make a home that broke it up. I'm sure one morning he went ??? :-[

I vote to leave it on. They added the foam because the original filters on these trucks "rattled" in the bow.
george

Doodah,

Kirkwood is a great place for a horse show. Good job on building the place. We do go down 52 to 63 to 380. We have our horses just out of Hastings on Highway 55.

I know just where you are! I'm glad they are fixing up 63 because it saves 15 minutes now with the 4 lane open just past the Featherlite plant. PM me with your email. Srigs.
