weird wiring problem

Truck / trailer combo has worked normal for years. Now the trailer hazards work, the left turn signal works, but the right turn stays lit instead of flashing. Truck lights work normal. Any ideas what would cause that?
thanks.

Unplug the trailer hook up a test light to the truck trailer connector. Turn on the signal and see if you are getting a flashing light to that point.

Clean your flasher too.

Clean the contacts on the trailer light.

Thanks,
Truck connector pinned out ok. Trailer does the same thing on a buddies truck ( He has the trailer now). Will double check the connector plug on the trailer when he gets back. Is it safe to think the ground is good if the hazards and left signals work normal? The brake controller was acting weird for both of us also. The voltage would come up when on the brakes, but didn't drop down when you released the brakes. We both have Prodigy's, and had to lower the voltage alot to find a setting that would work and release the brakes correctly. Its just a flatbed trailer with basic wiring to the 7 pin connector.
thanks again.

if you have a weak ground the lights will blink some with turn signal on

That usually means a bad ground. Could be the socket itself, or the ground wire from the socket. Clean them up and see what happens.

Are the bulbs in question the multi-filament type? If so, look at the filaments very carefully. One could have broken and fallen into contact with the other. This drove me nuts on an old gasser car, which was acting much like your trailer. Hope this helps, good luck!

thanks for the help. Now the wipers have quit on my truck, and I'll be working on those before I get back to the trailer, but thank you.

I had a similar problem with a 2006. Went to the dealer and they said that if the trailer plug ever has a short or there is a short in the trailer at any time when it is connected to the truck it will cause the truck computer to stop sending certain signals to the plug. a simple reflash is required and this will solve your problem. This took three dealers and outside two mechanics over a one year period to finally figure out. I rewired the plug already to bypass the computer. When that went bad the dealer realized the problem.
